Stuffed Cheddar Burgers Submitted By: Kenny

Ingredients:

2 pounds lean ground beef,
2 tablespoons minced yellow onion,
1 large egg,
1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard,
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano,
3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese,
2 tablespoons vegetable oil,
6 hamburger buns,
lettuce, tomato, and onion slices, mayonnaise, and ketchup as accompaniments (optional).

Preparation:

1. In a large bowl, combine beef, onion, egg, mustard, and oregano. Using a fork or your hands, stir or mash mixture until very well combined. Form beef mixture into 6 hamburger patties using BurgerMate. Set aside.

2. Divide cheddar into 6 portions and press each into a small patty. Using you fingers, create a pocket in each burger; stuff a cheddar patty into each pocket. Re-form burgers to enclose cheddar.

3. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking. Cook burgers until done to taste, about 5 minutes per side for medium. Place burgers on buns and serve with desired accompaniments.
