Patty Melt Submitted By: Linsey
Date/Time : July-02-2006, 01:47:51

Ingredients:

vegetable cooking spray,
1 teaspoon butter,
1 cup onion - coarsely chopped,
1 1/3 pound ground round,
1/4 teaspoon black pepper,
1/4 teaspoon salt,
3 ounces cheddar cheese - shredded,
8 slices sourdough bread.

Directions:

In a large nonstick skillet coated with vegetable cooking spray, melt butter over medium high heat. Add onion and cook until slightly browned (about 5 minutes). Reduce heat and keep cooking until tender, stirring occasionally (about 10 minutes). Preheat the broiler. In a medium bowl, combine ground round, black pepper, and salt. Form beef mixture into 4 patties using BurgerMate. Place patties on broiler pan, coated with cooking spray. Broil until done (about 4 minutes per side). Distribute cheese among 4 of the bread slices. Top with one patty, 1/4 of onion mixture, and bread slice. Spray nonstick skillet with a generous amount of cooking spray and heat over medium high heat. Cook two sandwiches (or as many as you can fit) at a time until cheese melts and outside is slightly browned (about 4 minutes per side). Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
