Herbed Beef Burgers Submitted By: Peter
Date/Time : May-24-2007, 11:31:06

Ingredients:

6 tablespoons beef broth,
1 Large Egg,
1/4 cup fine dried bread crumbs,
1/4 cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese,
2 tablespoons chopped Italian parsley,
1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary leaves,
1 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano leaves,
1/2 teaspoon salt,
1/2 teaspoon pepper,
1 1/4 pounds ground beef (about 20% fat),
4 crusty rolls or Hamburger Buns (about 4 in. wide), split horizontally and toasted.
Garnish: sliced tomato and red onion, pickles, roasted red peppers, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise; or order a Condiment Combo Tray in the Deli

Directions:

In a bowl, combine broth, egg, bread crumbs, parmesan, parsley, rosemary, oregano, salt, and pepper to blend. Add ground beef and gently mix with a fork just until ingredients are evenly blended.  Divide beef mixture into 4 equal portions. With your BurgerMate, shape each portion into a patty. If making ahead, lay patties side by side on a plate, cover airtight, and chill up to 24 hours.  Prepare barbecue grill and preheat for direct-heat cooking.  Lay patties on grill over a solid bed of medium-hot coals or medium-high heat on a gas grill.  Keep charcoal grill uncovered; close lid on gas grill. Cook 6 to 7 minutes, then turn burgers with a wide spatula. Continue to cook cooking until meat is no longer pink in center (cut to test), about 6 minutes longer.  Transfer burgers to buns and garnish to taste.
