Chargrilled Homemade Beefburgers Submitted By: Ranye
Date/Time : April-14-2006, 17:30:00

Ingredients:

500g/1lb 2oz mince or ground steak,
1 small onion, very finely chopped.
1 garlic clove, crushed.
50g/2oz fresh white breadcrumbs,
1 scant tsp dried oregano,
1 tbsp wholegrain mustard salt and ground black pepper,
1 egg, beaten.
Olive oil, for frying.
4 burger buns,
1 small red onion, finely sliced into half moons.
10cm/4in piece of cucumber, peeled and finely sliced.
2 medium tomatoes, sliced. tomato sauce or relish.

Directions:

1. Using clean hands, mix the beef in a bowl with the onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, oregano and mustard. Season well with salt and pepper. Mix in a little beaten egg to help bind the ingredients together. Form the mixture into four patties using BurgerMate. Place on a well-heated barbecue, or fry in a lightly oiled frying pan for approx 6-8 min on each side until browned and cooked through. Drain well and place on kitchen paper to absorb excess fat.

2. Slit the burger buns in half and toast briefly or warm them on the barbecue. Place a burger inside each bun and top with the onion, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese and olives.

To Serve:  Serve with the sauce or relish.
