Beef and Mushroom Burgers Submitted By: Darcey
Date/Time : December-22-2005, 12:42:00

Traditional Recipe:

1 1/2 Tbsp oil,
1 1/3 lb regular ground beef (70% lean),
1/4 tsp each salt and black pepper,
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce,
1 large egg, lightly beaten.
1/2 cup white bread crumbs,
4 white hamburger buns, split.
1/2 cup ketchup, to serve.
1/4 cup regular mayonnaise,
12 cup pickle slices.

Directions:

Place 2 tablespoons oil into a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high and heat until hot. Add mushrooms and cook, stirring, for 4 to 5 minutes or until pan juices have evaporated. Remove from heat, drain excess liquid and set aside for 10 minutes.  Combine mushrooms, ground beef, onion, salt and pepper, Worcestershire sauce and egg in a large mixing bowl. Mix well using your hands. Form mixture into patties using BurgerMate, place onto a lightly oiled tray, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes. Heat a large non-stick frying pan on medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4 to 5 minutes on each side or until cooked to your liking. Grill hamburger buns. Top each bun base with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato and two patties. Drizzle with barbecue sauce to serve.
