Beef Burgers with Caramelized Onions Submitted By: Ken

Ingredients:

2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar,
1/2 cup bulgur wheat,
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped.
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper,
4 hamburger buns, split and toasted.
1 1/3 lbs lean ground beef,
4 piece lettuce, for garnish.
2 teaspoon olive oil,
1/2 teaspoon salt,
4 cup sliced onion,
2 teaspoon sugar,
2 tablespoon tomato paste,
3/4 cup of water.

Preparation:

In a small bowl, combine bulgur with two-thirds of warm water; let stand 30 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and the bulgur is tender.  Meanwhile, in a large nonstick skillet, heat oil over low heat.  Add onions and sugar; saute until the onions are very tender and golden, about 15 minutes.  Stir in remaining water and vinegar.  Season with salt and keep warm.

Prepare grill or preheat the broiler.  In a medium-sized bowl, combine the plumped bulgur, beef, tomato paste, parsley, salt and pepper; Mix thoroughly but lightly.  Shape into patties using BurgerMate.  Grill or broil on lightly oiled rack until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes per side.  Place the patties on buns, top with the caramelized onions and garnish with lettuce.
